Go OU!

Are you ready for some football?

One afternoon digging a very deep hole, one afternoon pouring lots of concrete, one lift rented and hauled home...one frantic phone call to wife...and the OU flag now waves proudly , 28 feet in the air in the midst of Husker country! Go Sooners!

In September....

Grandparents are similar to a piece of string - handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of their grandchildren.
~Author Unknown

Fun filled afternoons with Grandma and Grandpa....around here, we never run out of butterflies, rootbeer snow cones, hugs or candy! It's our job...to fill them up with sugar and send them home...and we try to do it well!

Home For A Visit!

You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes. ~Walter M. Schirra, Sr

Perfect

The idea that no one is perfect is a view most commonly held
by people with no grandchildren.
Doug Larson

On a perfect day in September, Grandma cornered her "perfect" little jewels into sitting on the couch for just one more photo! There is no greater joy than a couple of hours listening to the laughter of our grandchildren. (I wonder though if they think my face looks like the front end of a Nikon lens?)

Symphony of Joy...

Listen for the music in all things and life will be a symphony of joy.
Gail Marie

A symphony of joy can often be heard around Grandma's dining room table. It's played on drums and pianos and guitars and usually accompanied by a loud little Sheltie, determined to be heard above the cacophony of untuned instruments and untrained voices. Grandpa says the only thing missing in this little family band is ear plugs! (Musical instruments courtesy of Uncle Kevin...musical ability courtesy of Grandpa Joe....lack of rhythm courtesy of Grandma Billie......but a good time is always had by all !)

Combine a family of loving hearts... Melt together ...Add a lot of love... Mix well with respect and trust ...Add gentleness, laughter, faith, hope, and joy ...pour in much understanding... (Don't forget patience)... Sprinkle with kisses and a dash of hugs Bake for a lifetime ...YIELD: One Happy Family!

True Colors!

Can you see their true colors, shining through?

Kids...did you hear that three football fans went rock climbing one afternoon...one Oklahoma fan, one Nebraska fan and one Texas fan? They argued all the way up the mountain about who among them was the most "die hard" fan. When they reached the top of the mountain, the Nebraska fan screamed "this is for the Corn Huskers" and jumped off the mountain! Refusing to be outdone by the Nebraska fan, the Oklahoma fan rose to his feet and yelled "this is for the Sooners" and tossed the Texas fan off the mountain!
(Now the moral of this story is not to go jumping off mountains for any team...and to never go rock climbing with Grandpa Joe!)

Swing

Another lesson from Grandpa......no matter what life throws at you, kids......keep swinging!

The Monarchs Are Back!

A child is like a butterfly in the wind Some can fly higher than others, But each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is beautiful.
Author Unknown
There are tiny orange miracles in our own backyard. For the third year in a row, the monarchs are making a stopover for food and fuel on their migration to a warmer climate. Grandma found a cool website about Monarch migrations. You can check it out here: Journey North . You can also learn about fall and the changing seasons around us. These beauties are a sight to see...as you walk through the pine trees, they flutter around you and for those little butterfly chasers that love to run in Grandpa's garden...if you stand still long enough with some sugar water on your hand, maybe they will come to land on you. Kind of true for many things in life...if you quit chasing what you seek, it may come to find you! They don't stay long...most just rest a night or two...but it's worth the trip to see them. (And Gus loves company!)

Garden Flowers

Live and work but do not forget to play, to have fun in life and really enjoy it. Eileen Caddy

Having fun...and really enjoying it...never seems to be an issue with these kids! Captured together in a rare instant..and against some of their wishes...Grandma grabs a photo of the real "flowers" in her garden. We love you all!
